Terrorist Attacks on the USA ♥ 8:58 PM
There are terrorist attacks that occur in the United States. However, nothing really big happens that often. The last major occurrence of terrorism happened on September 11, 2001. Of course, this was when the World Trade Center had two planes crash into the twin towers, another plane crashed into the pentagon, and another went down in a field that was headed for the White House. The motives for these terrorists can be anything. It could be that they think the US is a threat or an enemy. They could also want something, like money, land, resources, etc. Another reason might be that they hate the idea of America, hate the things that go on here, or just hate America in general. The motives really just depend on the person. They could very well be doing it just for the sake of doing so or because they think Americans "deserve" the punishment.
In America, there are many ways that the government tries to detect terrorist attacks and prevent them from happening. One way is by using satellites to find missiles or detect terrorist activities that are going around globally that may be a threat to US citizens. Another way is airport security which has been tightened since 9/11. In the airport security, they make you take off your shoes, place all of your baggage through an x-ray machine, go through a metal detector and have your ID and boarding pass with you at all times. Finally, there are border patrols and even a fence along the Mexican border. This is a way to secure the borders between the United States and Canada and the United States and Mexico. In order to prevent illegal immigrants and possibly terrorists from coming into the country, the borders are lined with patrol officers and agents. If illegal immigrants or terrorists are found trying to get into the United States, they are arrested and then taken back to their home country.
However, even with all of these ways to prevent terrorism, there is still some going on. The United States may want to improve on their mechanisms for preventing terrorism or there might be another attack on the country. We are at war, after all, and no one wants another attack on US soil.
