Diverse Populations ♥ 12:12 PM
The United States has a very diverse population. This is mostly caused by the immigrants who come to the USA for a better life. When they move to the country, they bring along with them their cultures and customs from their home country. This is reflected in the country's variety in languages, religions, customs, and dress. You can mostly see this in the various communities in all the cities in the nation. The United States does promote diversity in the country. We have organizations dedicated to different cultures. We also have different rights that help promote diversity. One of the main rights is freedom of religion. This allows people to practice any religion that they choose, which creates diversity. Other ways in which the United States promotes the diversity of its population is through exchange programs with students, restaurants, music, and museums. In many places, you can go to different kinds of restaurants, like Chinese, Mexican, Italian, etc. and experience a little piece of their culture through their food. In the United States, you can go to concerts that support other country's music. This is especially true for Austin because of our local music that is played every night.
I, personally, have felt the direct promotion of diversity in the U.S. by going through a foreign-exchange student program myself. I went to Germany with classmates of mine to learn about their culture. When I came back to the United States, I felt as if I had grown and knew more about the world. I had brought back many souvenirs from Germany, including food, pottery, and of course memories that helped to gain diversity in my personal life. The following year, the Germans came over to the United States as a foreign-exchange program, too.
So as you see, the United States is very diverse and of course it promotes diversity within the States, too. The United States is always open for new cultures, practices, and people. This is why they call us the "Melting Pot"!
